A brand new newsletter is here! In this edition, we are proud to present a long read, a book review written by Lisa Storm Villadsen on The Art of Gratitude (Engels, 2018). As usual we also present you with new publications, calls and other relevant information.

We present you with the first full newsletter of 2018, with two brand new featured publications from our members. The first is a monograph on rhetorical style by RSE-member Marie Lund. The second is an anthology on multimodal argumentation and rhetoric in media genres, featuring contributions from several RSE-members. There are also new publications that should be of interest in the members announcement-section!

One is a (free!) collection of articles old and new on deliberation by RSE-member Christian Kock, and one is a brand new anthology on rhetorical audience studies edited by RSE-member Jens E. Here, you'll find the call for the first International Rhetoric Workshop, an international workshop for emerging scholars and PhD students in rhetoric. It is endorsed by both the RSE and the Rhetoric Society of America, and will take place on a biennial basis. We would like to invite you to participate and also to spread the word. In addition to other calls, conferences and publications, we've talked to RSE board member Alan Finlayson, who is the host of the next RSE conference in Norwich.

In addition to the regular news that might interest you, and the presentation of another board member (Esben B. Nielsen), we also present a new section that will appear from time to time: "Featured Publication". This feature is an informal way of highlighting a recent publication by one of our members, as they are published. We do encourage you to send us tips of good, international publications by yourself or one of our members as they come out. We will feature them in the newsletter - or - if there are particularly many - at the Facebook page. In the month of December, our newsletter brings you several calls for conferences and publications all over Europe. Furthermore, we’d like to introduce the new members of the Executive Board to you. Today, we start with the two youngest members, Louise Schou Therkildsen and Martijn Wackers. In their interviews, they talk about their research interests and rhetorical approaches as well as their plans for the RSE. Additionally, we invite you to join our newly formed Facebook Group.
